Metaflective Strategies is a team of rigorously trained evaluators and researchers dedicated to effective and equitable evaluation and research. We believe in taking the time to understand our partners and provide insights from internal and external sources that leads to relevant improvement.

Our team is at the heart of our service. Each member is experienced in their field, grounded in best practices, and is dedicated to delivering and supporting quality evaluation projects, whether through direct responsibilities or supporting roles.

Ryan Culbertson, MA

Managing Director and Researcher

Ryan has an MA in Educational Psychology and Bilingual Education from Texas Tech University (TTU), is a Research Associate at TTU, a Research Fellow at Claremont Graduate University, and Executive Director of the American STEM Alliance. His research includes student STEM learning and outcomes in out-of-school time settings. Ryan also has over 15 years’ experience directing and managing programs and grants in the K-20 pipeline with focus on program evaluation, development, and scaling. 

Kahli Hedrick-Romano, PhD

Associate and Researcher

Kahli has a PhD in Applied Demography from The University of Texas at San Antonio and is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Claremont Graduate University. Kahli has also been a high school science teacher and college instructor. Kahli’s passion and expertise lies in using collective impact models to drive informed and results-based change.

Shon Brewington, MS, MA

Partner and Data Analytics Expert

Shon has a MS in Data Analytics and an MA in Educational Psychology with focus in program evaluation from The University of Texas at San Antonio and is a Senior Consultant and Business Intelligence Developer at Booz Allen and Hamilton. His expertise is in data visualization utilizing R programing and Tableau. 

Yeni Dávila, MA, MBA

Partner and Language Expert 

Yeni has an MBA and a MA in Spanish Language and Translation from The University of Texas at San Antonio and is a Senior Project Specialist at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center San Antonio. Her research focuses on the use of translation in bilingual programs and its effectiveness on student academic achievement. 

Guan Saw, PhD

Consultant and Researcher

Guan has a PhD in measurement and quantitative methods from Michigan State University and is an Associate Professor in the School of Educational Studies at Claremont Graduate University. His research blends educational, psychological, and sociological perspectives and integrates quantitative and qualitative methods to examine causes, patterns, trends, and consequences of social inequalities. Guan teaches graduate courses on inequalities in education, program evaluation, and statistical methods.
